DCC holds protest rally over water crisis in Leh

LEH, June 20: District Congress Committee (DCC) Leh led by president Tsering Samphel  organized a protest rally to raise the water crisis issue in Leh today.
Holding placard in hands, the rally commenced from Leh gate to culminates at main bazaar. It was  supported by Lower Leh residents who were facing water crisis for the past few days as PHE water tanker fails to provide water supply. To add to the crisis PHE daily wager nearly,  340 in number went on daylong strike today over non- payment of their salary dues for the last ten month thus all the tap water supply also remain suspended in Leh today.
Blaming the ruling party to fail to solve the water crisis Congress leader addressed the gathering at main bazar. Samphel said that BJP fooled the innocent voters by making false promises and now fulfilled even basic requirement of water supply which never happened in Ladakh history. He alleged that people of Ladakh had high expectation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to at least address one of the major issues of Ladakh but he failed to say any words during his both visits to Leh.
Former Hill Council Chairman Rigzin Spalbar in his speech said that if the  Government fails to solve basic water crisis how can we expect them to bring UT in six month and alleged that voters were fooled with many false promises. Ex-Executive Councillor Mohd Shafi Lassu also addressed  the gathering.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner demanding restoration of adequate supply of water and also provide alternate supply through tankers in Leh city. They also demanded adequate supply of power supply and ensure black-topping of roads in Leh city.
