DC Srinagar honours J&K Kayaking team for winning gold

SRINAGAR, July 3: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Tuesday felicitated the J&K Kayaking team for winning gold medals at the national federation cup held last month in Chandigarh.
The team which won the gold medal in the 200 meter game beat the Indian Navy and Indian Army among other top teams from across the country participating in the national championship.
Dr Shah said the district administration feels proud of their achievement and that the team will be rewarded for its wonderful achievement. He also congratulated the team coach Bilquis Mir for her efforts and dedication.
He assured the sportspersons and the coach for all possible assistance and encouragement from the district administration for their further betterment.
The DC who is also the chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority said services of these sports professionals will be availeds for disaster management in the district. He said around 200 professionals from will be roped in for rescue services at relief centres established for flood control efforts across the district.
