DC Leh urges people to follow traffic rules

LEH, Apr 19: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Leh Avny Lavasa today urged upon the people to strictly follow the norms of Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) while plying their vehicles across the district.
This was stated by DC while chairing a meeting of officers of MVD to reviewing the traffic week arrangements at her office chamber, here today.
CMO, Additional SP, DySP SDRF, ARTO, Administrator MC besides representatives of Nehru Yuva Kendra, SRTC and other stakeholders of various transport unions and private car dealers were also present on the occasion.
It was given out in the meeting that the traffic week will commence from April 23 and will conclude on April 30 in the district.
DC asked the officers of MVD to arrange painting, debate competitions besides seminars by involving college and school students so that people could fully get educated with the norms of traffic management across the district. She asked the authorities of MVD and Police Department to prepare banners and pamphlets and also arrange car and cycle rallies during traffic week across Leh district.
Avny Lavasa asked them to organise radio talk shows on awareness of the people about the traffic rules. She directed them to also arrange street plays (nukkad shows) in prominent places of Leh town by involving local artists and NCC, NSS and NYK as student ambassadors for traffic management.
DC asked the Traffic Department to provide congestion free traffic management to the people of the district. She said that the district administration is committed to facilitate people of the district with all transport facilities so that they do not face any inconvenience.
