DC launches election helpline, electoral registration drive

REASI, Feb 1: District Election Officer Reasi Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, who is also District Election Officer, launched a Toll Free Helpline for Electoral Facilitation to help the voters for registration and to redress various grievances related to election related matters.
The Toll Free Number 1800-1807-041 will be free for all networks of GSM and landline numbers. Voters can contact the election cell on this number without any call charge. A separate line has also been launched for the Booth Level Officers to facilitate their needs in the field. Initially, the number will operate from 10 am – 8 pm and after two weeks it will be round the clock facility.
Meanwhile, the DEO also launched an Electoral Registration Drive at all 301 Polling Stations. Booth Level Officers will remain available February 1 to 5  at respective polling stations along with latest voter list for scrutiny of general public, to register new voters and also for deletions and modifications in the list.
District Administration has also geared up all 147 Sarpanchs and more than 1015 Odd Panchs for Second Phase of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation beginning from February 1.
Citing the performances and turnout during various election related activities during National Voters’ Day and Republic Day cultural procession, Dr Shahid Iqbal hoped for a higher turn out during forthcoming elections. More than 7000 voters have already been added during recently concluded SVEEP drive and summary revisions.
The DC also reviewed the ongoing training programmes and performance of officials in the evaluation series. DPO Rohit Mehta presented a resume of progress achieved in advanced practical training. ACD Joginder Singh Rai and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
