KARGIL, Feb 1: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Vikas Kundal inaugurated an Archery Tournament under Khelo India at Stakkhang Tambis here today.
32 teams from across the district are participating in the tournament which is organized by the District Administration Kargil in collaboration with Naran Society Tambis.
Headquarter Assistant to DC, Assistant Director Planning, other concerned officers, Sarpanchs, Panchs and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner while congratulating the participating teams for their enthusiasm and passion for archery expressed hope that the tournament would provide ideal platform for the players to polish their skills.
The DC said that the District Administration is committed to give impetus to sports activities in the district and the tournament has been organized with the twin objective to encourage the young players as well as to promote and revive traditional archery in the district.
Later an awareness programme on SVEEP was also organized on the occasion during which the District Nodal Officer SVEEP Kargil and team threw light on the importance of participating in the democratic process through voting.
A large number of spectators from Tambis and adjoining areas thronged the venue to witness the archery matches.
