LEH, Oct 30: Deputy Commissioner, Leh Simrandeep Singh today inaugurated a central heating system and additional classrooms in the Army Public School, Leh in a function organized by the Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC), Ladakh.
The function was attended by the Principal, APS, Leh, Sachdeva, Commandant LSRC, Col S S Patil, Chief Engineer NHPC, S K Sandhu and the staff of APS Leh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commandant LSRC thanked the District Administra-tion and NHPC for providing power connectivity to the Army School as a result of which the classrooms are now put on electric heating system. The Commandant informed that it was really difficult for the students to sit in classrooms in the absence of electric heaters as diesel heating was very costly.
The DC appreciated the help rendered by NHPC and the administration in enabling the Army to utilize the abundant power available in Leh for the benefit of students.
It is expected that funds works lakhs of rupees will be saved after switching to electric heating. The DC, later, inspected the classrooms and interacted with the students and encouraged them to become good all rounded students.
