DC inaugurates 5-day training prog on RBSK, Iron Plus Initiative

LEH, Sept 5: Deputy Commissioner Simrandeep Singh today set the ball rolling for the launch of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK)  and Iron Plus Initiative in J&K by inaugurating the five-day training program for the officials of Health Department.
The five-day training is being conducted by the National Level Advisor of RBSK, Dr Arun Kumar. After the conclusion of the training, the RBSK and Iron Initiative will be launched by Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad in Leh, which will mark the launch of both initiatives in J&K, making it the third state after Maharashtra and Haryana.
It may be mentioned that RBSK is a new initiative under NRHM for screening the population between 0-18 years in respect of Defects at Birth, Diseases, Deficiencies and Developmental Delays. The Iron Initiative is aimed at checking the Anaemia among the adolscents.
In his address, DC stressed at systematic implementation of the initiative in convergence with School Education and ICDS since the target population would be found in schools and Anganwadis. The DC further laid stress on making the Councillors and Sarpanches aware of the initiative so that it becomes an initiative of entire district and does not remain confined to the Health Department.
