KATHUA, Nov 16: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rohit Khajuria along with other district officers conducted raid today and sealed an illegal stone crusher and seized two loaded tippers coming from Ujh river.
Official sources said that DC Kathua, Khajuria along with ADC, Ghansham Singh and ACR Jatinder Mishra, after receiving some inputs conducted surprise raid in Pandori area near Nagri at around 9 pm tonight, at the bank of river Ujh and sealed an illegally operating stone crusher. The team also seized two tippers moving towards this unit.
The operators sensing trouble broke down the power supply and managed to escape from the unit taking advantage of darkness. The tipper drivers also escaped. The DC ordered sealing of the unit and also seized both the trippers loaded with the stones. The District Administration has already banned the extraction of minor mineral from Ujh and Ravi river besides several other areas.
The DC told Excelsior that the power supply line to the stone crusher has also been snapped. Tehsildar concerned was directed to seal the unit and submit report by tomorrow. The seized tippers were brought to Kathua. He said that similar raids will be continued in coming days in the district at several places.
