DC asks lumberdars, chowkidars to act as CID for district administration

KISHTWAR, Nov 6: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana today convened a meeting with lumberdars and chowkidars of the district and sought feedback on various issues including developmental activities, law and order, various welfare schemes, functioning of schools, supply status of essential commodities, power and water supplies in their respective areas.
During the meeting, the participants were sensitized about their basic role and urged to be in regular touch with officers and officials at the ground level so that basic concerns of public could reach to them. He also directed them to provide necessary feedback regarding functioning of various departments in their respective areas. He directed them to act as a CID for district administration and ask them to report the information of their respective jurisdictions with immediate effect for fast disposals besides, to keep regular check on the attendance of the Government employees in the departments at their areas.
DC directed the SDMs, Zonal Officers and Tehsildars to look into all the issues raised and work towards their early resolution. The officers were also directed to ensure that instructions are followed in letter and spirit and reports of action taken or results to be furnished on regular basis.
He directed them to keep strict vigil on the encroachment of State and Kacharai land in their respective areas so as encroachments on all the State land will be cleared in a time bound manner. He said that the violators will be dealt with sternly as per the law.
DC laid stress on these functionaries to work in an impartial way in the ensuing upcoming elections in the district to be conduct in a free and fair manner. They were also warned not to involve in any political activities and directed the Tehsildars to dismiss such chowkidars and lambardars who will found in any political activities. They were also asked to co-ordinate various sports and cultural activities at village level by engaging youth in different activities like organizing traditional village sports.
DDC said that the genuine demands of their respective areas will be taken care of and necessary measures will be taken to resolve them at the earliest.
Project Officer Kishtwar, IWMP, Assistant Labour Commissioner Kishtwar, District Panchayat Officer Kishtwar, ARTO and Tehsildars were also present in the meeting.
