DB’s directive on tourist facilities at Mantalai, Sudh Mahadev

JAMMU, Nov 16: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Summit Nayyar seeking proper facilities for tourists  at Mantalai-Sudh Mahadev, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Kumar today directed Union Ministry of Tourism, Secretary State Tourism Department, Director Tourism and CEO Patnitop Development Authority to file their counter affidavits within three weeks.
During the course of hearing, it was submitted Jammu and Kashmir tourists attracts from all over the world for its presence of religious temples and scenic beauty. Sudhmahadev temple and Mantalai temple in Udhampur district are considered sacred. However, the respondents have failed to tap the potential of these areas.
“The immoveable and movable property located inside the sprawling Ashram built over 1002 kanals of land at Mantalai is almost in dilapidated condition.
After hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi appearing for the PIL, DB directed counsel for Union Ministry of Tourism, Secretary State Tourism Department, Director Tourism and Chief Executive Officer, Patnitop Development Authority to file their counter affidavits within three weeks and rejoinder affidavit, if necessary within one week thereafter.
