DB’s directive to State in PIL on unauthorized construction

JAMMU, Feb 3: In a Public Interest Litigation against alleged illegal construction by the land mafia, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today granted four weeks time to the State to explain as to why Jammu & Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act, 2000 has not been made fully operational till date.
In the PIL, the petitioner Naresh Kumar Gupta has alleged that illegal and unauthorized construction is being raised by the land mafia in the residential area at Mohalla Paharian near Geeta Bhawan Jammu. “The construction is the result of conspiracy with the watch and ward staff, Chief Enforcement Officer, Senior Town Planner and other officers of the Jammu Municipal Corporation”, the petitioner said.
