DB warns State against further non-compliance of orders

JAMMU, July 12: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Shivan Mahajan against child abuse, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice B S Walia today warned the State of further non-compliance of the directions issued so far.
When the PIL came up for hearing, Deputy AG Vishal Bharti submitted that the Juvenile Justice Boards shall be constituted within a period of three weeks from today.
“An advertisement has been issued inviting on-line applications from eligible candidates for their appointment as Chairperson and Members of the Child Welfare Committees”, he further said, adding “District Level Social Welfare Councils have been constituted in 17 districts and the process for constitution of District Level Social Welfare Councils in remaining five districts will be initiated within one week from today and an endeavour shall be made to constitute the District Social Welfare Committees within a period of three weeks”.
After hearing Advocate Veenu Gupta for the PIL whereas Deputy AG Vishal Bharti, the DB made it clear that in case of non compliance of the directions contained in this order, this court shall be constrained to pass appropriate orders against the concerned respondents on the next date of hearing.
