JAMMU, Feb 6: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) highlighting encroachments on the banks of River Tawi, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasantha-kumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan today directed Divisional Commissioner Jammu to appear in person tomorrow along with the list of encroachers.
When the PIL came up for hearing, senior Advocate Sunil Sethi along with Advocate Diwakar Sharma appearing for the petitioners drew the attention of the DB towards the report published in EXCELSIOR on February 5 mentioning that nearly 800 encroachers have been identified by the multi-department committee constituted on the earlier directions of the High Court.
After hearing both the sides, DB directed Divisional Commissioner Jammu to appear in person tomorrow along with the list of encroachers. “He shall also apprise the court about the action taken against such encroachers”, the DB added.
