DB seeks personal appearance of Div Com, DC

JAMMU, Feb 21: Division Bench of the State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Alok Aradhe today sought personal appearance of Dr Pawan Kotwal, Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Ghulam Nabi Balwan, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar for non-compliance of the order whereby directions were issued for shifting of Kishtwar Courts to the old Deputy Commissioner Office Complex.
When the contempt petition came up for hearing, Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed with Advocate Irfaan Mohd Khan and Advocate I A Hamal, President Bar Association Kishtwar, drew the attention of DB towards the order passed on December 28, 2016 whereby Advocate General had been apprised about the seriousness of the matter. Advocate Ahmed submitted that the Advocate General had made the statement that he will initiate appropriate steps to ensure that the order dated May, 27 2016 was complied.
“It was only on his statement that the Division Bench had adjourned the matter for February 13”, Advocate Ahmed said, adding neither the directions of the Division Bench have been complied nor any compliance report has been filed by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar.
After hearing counsels for the petitioner and Senior AAG Seema Khajooria Shekhar for the State, the Division Bench, in the open court, expressed displeasure over the non-compliance of the directions passed on May 27, 2016.
Accordingly, DB sought personal appearance of Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar on February 27.
