DB issues notice to Union Tourism Ministry, State Govt

JAMMU, Feb 11: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Summit Nayyar seeking proper development of Mantalai-Sudh Mahadev, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Alok Aradhe today issued notice to Union Ministry of Tourism, Secretary Tourism J&K Government, Director Tourism, CEO Patnitop Development Authority returnable within four weeks.
During the course of hearing, the petitioner submitted that Jammu and Kashmir attracts tourists from all over the world because of numerous temples and scenic beauty.
“Sudhmahadev and Mantalai temples in Udhampur district are considered sacred and have potential to attract large number of tourists but the respondents have failed to tap the tourism potential of the area”, the petitioner said, adding “immoveable and movable property located inside the sprawling ashram at Mantalai built over 1002 kanals of land is lying in dilapidated condition”.
“Out of 26 rooms of the under construction five star hotel the automatic locks of one dozen rooms are broken and nothing is lying inside these rooms”, he further submitted.
