JAMMU, Feb 22: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Deewakar Sharma seeking directions to JKCA to immediately start construction of international stadium at Bajalta, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Alok Aradhe today granted three weeks time to BCCI for filing status report.
In the PIL, it has been submitted that J&K had allotted 500 kanals of land in favour of JKCA in the year 2005 at Bajalta and BCCI had allotted more than Rs 100 crore in favour of JKCA for the construction of international cricket stadium at Bajalta.
During the course of hearing, it was submitted that 11 years have lapsed but not even a single penny has been released in favour of JKCA due to which an inordinate delay has been caused in starting of construction work.
After hearing Advocate Deewakar Sharma appearing for the PIL whereas Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi appearing for the BCCI, the DB granted three weeks time for filing status report.
