DB frames committee for survey of land proposed for cricket stadium

JAMMU, Dec 30: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Deewakar Sharma seeking direction to Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association for start of work on international stadium at Bajalta, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Kumar has constituted committee to survey the area and report whether the same is flood prone.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, Advocate General placed a copy of the order dated 21.12.2017 issued by the Divisional Commissioner before the Division Bench.
“As per the order, the Divisional Commissioner is to constitute a committee of officers to survey the area at Bajalta, which has been earmarked for a cricket stadium, to report whether it is flood prone etc. The committee shall comprise of Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Jammu, Superintending Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control, Jammu and Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic, Jammu”, DB said.
“The Advocate General has informed us that the Superintending Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control, Jammu and Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic, Jammu is the very same person. Therefore, there will be two additional persons in the committee Additional District Development Commissioner, Jammu and Executive Engineer, Flood Control Division, Jammu”, the DB observed and directed Advocate General to place on record report on next date of hearing.
