JAMMU, Mar 30: In a Public Interest Litigation seeking check on illegal conversion of world famous Basmati rice growing land into concrete jungle in Sub Division of RS Pura, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today expressed dissatisfaction over the steps taken by the respondents and directed Deputy Commissioner Jammu and SDM RS Pura to appear in person tomorrow.
When the PIL came up for hearing, petitioner Ranjeet Singh Chib alleged that in breach of the prohibitory orders, violations are still taking place.
After perusing the minutes of meeting held on March 3, 2015 under the chairmanship of SDM RS Pura, the DB expressed dissatisfaction over the steps taken to check illegal conversion of Basmati growing land and directed Deputy Commissioner Jammu and SDM RS Pura to appear in person tomorrow to explain the position.
