DB directives to State in PIL seeking Dogri as subject in schools

JAMMU, Dec 6: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by a social activist and politician Vikram Malhotra seeking direction to State for implementing the Government Order No 222 Edu of 2006 regarding introduction of Dogri subject in all private as well as Government schools, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Kumar today directed the State to file an affidavit indicating clearly as to whether the six regional languages namely Kashmiri, Dogri, Punjabi, Gojri, Pahari and Bodhi are being taught as compulsory subjects in schools.
After hearing Advocate Abhinav Sharma for the PIL, the DB further directed State to mention in the affidavit as to whether these subjects are taught as an optional third subject and in which classes. “The affidavit shall be filed within two weeks”, the DB added.
