DB directives in PIL on child abuse

JAMMU, May 11: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Shivan Mahajan highlighting the issue of child abuse, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal today issued certain directives to the Government.
After hearing Advocate Veenu Gupta appearing for the PIL whereas Deputy AG Vishal Bharti appearing for the State, DB directed that the committee constituted under Rule 89 of the Jammu and Kashmir Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Rules, 2014, shall constitute the Juvenile Justice Board(s) and District Child Welfare Committees within two months failing which this court shall be constrained to pass appropriate orders against the respondents.
