DB directive in PIL seeking eye-bank, swine flu lab

JAMMU, Oct 5:  In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking establishment of eye-bank and also swine flu lab in Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Sanjay Kumar today directed respondents to file status report with regard to requisite steps to be taken in furtherance of the decision taken by the Committee within four weeks.
“By virtue of order dated September 8, 2017, certain directions had been issued in regard to which the status report has been filed.   On perusal of the same, it appears that the Committee has taken some steps towards setting up of the eye bank, as also the swine flu laboratory in the Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu”, the DB observed.
“In regard to the setting up of the eye bank, it is stated that six manufacturers have been identified, who are considered competent enough to supply the tender items for setting up of the eye bank as per the technical specifications short-listed.  In regard to the swine flu laboratory, it is stated that one Bio-safe Laboratory India Private Limited, Pitampura, New Delhi has been short-listed for the purposes of setting up of the laboratory”, the DB further observed.
