DB directive on dearth of staff in courts

JAMMU, July 14: In a petition regarding dearth of staff at various levels in the High Court and District Courts, Division Bench of the State High Court comprising Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta has granted one weeks time to the Government for ensuring compliance to the orders passed earlier.
In the petition filed by Joginder Singh, Bench Secretary of the High Court issues relating to dearth of staff at various levels, pay anomaly in respect of officers and staff and promotional avenues to Law Graduate Readers of the High Court have been highlighted.
After hearing petitioner in person, DB observed, “on February 27, 2018 and June 1, 2018 respectively Commissioner/Secretary Law and Principal Secretary General Administration Department were directed to file separate affidavits indicating clearly as to what steps they have taken to take final decision on agenda which was discussed in the meeting held on March 20, 2018”.
“Senior AAG HA Siddiqui appearing for respondents has submitted that he has received the draft affidavit on behalf of Respondent No 1 and Government Advocate Tarun Sharma appearing for the Respondent No 2 also undertakes to file affidavit in terms of the previous orders”, the DB observed.
Accordingly, Division Bench granted one week’s time for doing the needful failing which appropriate orders shall follow.
