DB directive to JMC on mobile towers

JAMMU, May 21: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta today directed Jammu Municipal Corporation to take action against the companies whose mobile towers have been installed unauthorizedly.
The direction was passed in a Public Interest Litigation filed by Navyug Sethi, a law student, seeking direction to respondents for re-locating mobile towers from the residential areas.
Earlier, when the PIL came-up for hearing, Advocate Sachin Gupta appearing for the JMC submitted that notices have been issued to the companies whose towers numbering 74  are installed unauthorizedly for closure. “In respect of remaining such towers notices are being issued and an appropriate action shall be taken”, he added.
Advocate Sandeep Gupta, Central Government Standing Counsel submitted that he shall file a report within a period of two weeks with regard to the action taken to ascertain the levels of radiations.
