Day curfew lifted, colleges to remain closed

JAMMU, Feb 21: Day curfew was completely lifted in Jammu today but night curfew remained in force after 11 pm while authorities have decided to keep Colleges closed tomorrow as well. However, schools will function tomorrow, like today.
Inspector General of Police (GP), MK Sinha told the Excelsior that curfew was relaxed from 7 am to 11 pm in entire Jammu City today during which situation remained completely peaceful with Government offices, business establishments and schools working normally.
Sinha said the curfew will remain enforced from 11 pm to 5 am as a precautionary measure.
While schools will function, Colleges will remain closed tomorrow, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar said.
He said Section 144 will remain enforced during the curfew relaxation period.
Meanwhile, according to a handout issued by the Jammu University, all the Under & Post Graduate level examinations, CBCS (Minor examinations), Course work examinations of M.Phil & PhD to be conducted on February 22 stand postponed.
Fresh dates will be notified later, it said. The teaching will also remain suspended. However, the offices of the University of Jammu will remain functional as usual on February 22, the handout said.
