Daljit distributes 230 gas connections

JAMMU, Jan 2: Vice Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, Daljit Singh Chib, today distributed free gas connections among 230 BPL families at Khour under Pradhan Mantri Ujwala Yojana.
Elaborating on the motive behind launching of this prestigious scheme, Vice Chairman said that use of LPG in households will help protect the health of the women and reduce the serious health hazards associated with cooking based on fossil fuel, reduce the number of deaths in India due to unclean cooking fuel and prevent young children from significant number of acute respiratory illnesses caused due to indoor air pollution by burning the fossil fuel.
The VC said that with Prime Minister’s initiative over 1 crore people voluntarily gave up their LPG subsidy. The savings generated from this initiative are being utilized in providing subsidized LPG connections to the poor.
He listed out various social elevation schemes launched by Centre and State Governments and urged the people to avail the benefits of these schemes.
