JAMMU, Dec 10: Medical (Mech) Daily Wagers, Need Based and CP Workers Union, Jammu Province, today held a protest demonstration in the premises of Super Speciality Hospital (SSH), Jammu, seeking early release of their wages pending for last about 24 months.
A large number of daily wagers (Mech) engaged at GMC, SMGS Hospital, CD Hospital and SSH Jammu this morning assembled in the premises of SSH Jammu and raised slogans against the State Government for not clearing their pending wages.
“Due to non-release of salaries for last 24 months we are facing financial crisis. Our children are facing suspension in schools for non-payment of their school fees and we do not have even bus fare to come to attend to our duties in the hospitals. We are already indebted to private financers or relatives, who now refuse to further finance us”, Puneet Sharma, the association president said.
He further said that they approached with their problems to all including MoS Health, Principal, GMC Jammu, superintendents and administrators of concerned hospitals, and Chief Engineer, Mechanical, GMC and associated hospitals but they did not pay heed to them.
“Their negligent attitude has forced us to adopt the path of protest, which we did not want to resort”, he said and appealed the Government to pass orders for early release of their pending salaries so that they can take a sigh of relief.
The association said that if their demand was not fulfilled at the earliest, they will be left with no other option but to go on agitation.
