Custodian caught taking bribe

SRINAGAR, Jan 4: Custodian of Trade Felicitation Centre (TFC) Salamabad was today caught red handed by the Vigilance sleuths while demanding and accepting bribe from a cross-LoC trader.
The accused officer, namely Farooq Ahmad Shah, was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50 thousands from the complainant for releasing his six load carriers to Muzaffarabad (PoK), which were detained by him for the last six days due to some file clearance.
Though the trader had submitted the related documents to the concerned officer, the latter threatened to cancel his registration if the former fails to pay him bribe of Rs 50,000/.
On receipt of a  complaint  by the trader, case FIR No.01/2017, P/S VOK, U/s 5(2) 4(A) P.C Act 2006, P/S VOK, was registered and a trap team was constituted. Trap team caught the accused officer red handed while accepting the bribe of Rs. 50000/-, in presence of independent witnesses and also arrested him.
Investigation of the case has been taken up.
