JAMMU, Nov 5: Authorities today relaxed curfew for four hours in entire Kishtwar town collectively and the relaxation period passed off peacefully.
Police said curfew was relaxed from 1 pm to 5 pm in entire Kishtwar town. People came out in large numbers to buy essential commodities.
“The relaxation period remained incident free,” they said.
During past two days, authorities had been giving relaxation in curfew area-wise by bifurcating the town in two parts. However, this was for the first time today that they gave curfew relaxation of four hours in the entire town.
The law and order situation is returning to normal and no untoward incident has been reported in the district, police said.
Curfew was imposed in Kishtwar late Thursday night after the killing of prominent BJP leader Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit Parihar by the suspected militants.
Meanwhile, three SSPs deputed on special law and order duty in Kishtwar including Manohar Singh, Sandeep Singh Wazir and Faisal Qureshi continued to camp in the town. SSP Kishtwar Rajinder Gupta and DC Angrez Singh Rana continued to monitor the situation regularly.
