JAMMU, Sept 29: Minister of State for Education, Culture and Tourism, Priya Sethi today said that 155 year old Ramleela being organized by Shri Sanatan Dharam Natak Samaj at Dewan Mandir is a fine blend of cultural and religious commitment that not only is keeping our traditions alive but also bringing people of all faiths together on one single platform.
The Minister was speaking during the concluding day of Ramleela at Dewan Mandir, where she was invited as chief guest. MLA East, Rajesh Gupta and president, Rajput Sabha Jammu, Naryan Singh were guests of honour on the occasion.
Appreciating management of Shri Sanatan Dharam Natak Samaj for their endeavour in building state of the art infrastructure, Priya Sethi hoped that once the auditorium is completed on desired lines the Ramleela will attract more visitors and devotees in which many renowned artists perform.
Earlier, Chairman of Shri Sanatan Dharam Natak Samaj, Yudhvir Sethi said that the super structure of auditorium had almost been completed and assured that in years to come this will be developed on the lines of a modern auditorium where people and especially schools will also be able to hold their annual events besides conferences and seminars.
The Hall, he said is used for Ramleela once in a year and for rest of the period it will be made to generate revenue for the institution. He assured people that more efforts will be put in to take this performance to next level.
Earlier, special prayers were held to inaugurate nine-day long Ramleela which was witnessed by thousands of devotees and locals.
Sanatan Dharam Natak Samaj, president, Anil Masoom said the eight-day long Ramleela attracted thousands of people. He informed that this is the only Ramleela where Hindus, Sikhs and even Muslims take part and perform. Massom said this religious event has produced number of Bollywood artistes, like Om Parkash and KL Sehgal and many others who became prominent actors and singers.
