CUJ got Space Research Centre due to efforts of Dr Jitendra: VC

JAMMU, Aug 13: Congratu-lating the students and teachers as the Central University of Jammu gets Space Research Centre, the Vice Chancellor of University expressed his gratitude to Minister of State (MoS) Independent Charge for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Prime Minister Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Dr Jitendra Singh for providing with Space Technology Research Centre.
Addressing the students and faculty members at Main Campus, Bagla on Monday, the Vice Chancellor informed the gathering that the CUJ has been approved for prestigious Space Technology Research Centrefirst ever in North.”This centre is third of its kind in India. The Central University of Jammu was pursuing the project for last three years. We (India) have been world’s leader in space exploration”, he said and added that it could not be possible had Dr. Jitendra Singh not taken personnel interest in it.
“This space exploration will benefit the young scientist of country. Dr. Singh had personally requested Dr K. Radhakrishnan, world renowned scientist and former chairman ISRO under whom the Mars Mission was launched, to be the formal “Advisor” for the new upcoming teaching department of space technology in Central University Jammu”, he added.
Dr. Devanand said that the Space Technology Research Centre will be an addition to the technological advancement of India. He further added that the Centre will be helpful for other departments for data analysis and academic advancement.
Bharat Sharma, representative of Dr Jitendra Singh’s Parliamentary Constituency Office also participated in the function.
