CU creates record for highest number of MNCs in Campus Placements

JAMMU, June 20: Chandigarh University, Gharuan, has entered the Limca Book of Records for setting a national record of being the first University in the country to have highest number of Multi-National Companies for Campus Placements in an academic year.
With more than 360 MNCs from different areas such as IT Sector, Telecom Sector, Hospitality & Tourism Sector, Aviation, Banking, Retail, Civil Construction, Power Generation & Management, Automobile, Pharmaceutical, Banking and Financial Management sector thronging the university campus, CU earned the distinction of being the University to have the highest number of companies recruiting the students during the placement session 2014-15. More than 4690 offers were given by the companies to the students of the Chandigarh University.
Terming the event as remarkable feat to achieve, Dr R S Bawa, Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University said, “Top companies from IT Sector included Google, Microsoft, IBM, Hewlett Packard, SAP Labs, Wipro, Cognizant, Tech-Mahindra, Mindtree, Capgemini, Cognizant, NEC Technologies while the core engineering companies includes TAFE, John Deere, Volvo-Eicher, Samsung, Lava, AIS, Hitachi, JSW Steel, Tata Power, IFB, Godrej, Bajaj Electrical, L&T Constructions, ERA Infrastructure conducted their campus placement drive at CU and selected engineering students”. IT Companies were the main recruiters as 8 MNCs, Cognizant, Wipro, L&T Infotech, Hewlett Packard, Tech-Mahindra, i-Gate, Capgemini and NEC Technologies picked up more than 1418 Engineering students during the placement session, he added.
Dr Bawa further added that, “The recruitment of Hotel Management students touched new glory as more than 7 five star hotel chains, which included The Oberio, Taj Group, The Grand, JW Marriot, The Marriot, Holiday Inn, ITC Group reached out for the recruitment of fresh talent during the campus placements while IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, Federal Bank and leading retail brand Tommy Hilfiger, online placement portal Naukari.com were among the 118 companies which selected MBA students from Chandigarh University”.
Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chancellor, Chandigarh University said, “There has been surge in number in companies visiting university for campus placements with every passing year which is an endorsement of the quality of education that we are imparting to our students”. He further added that Campus Placements for 2016-17 registered a jump of over 60% as more than 457 MNCs have selected 4964 students till date.
