CTEA highlights demands

JAMMU, Nov 27: J&K Commercial Taxes Employees Association (CTEA) held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president Nazir Ahmed Bhat.
The meeting was also attended by Yashvinder Singh Jamwal, Chairman, Harvinder Singh, general secretary, Shiv Kumar Sharma, joint secretary, Syed Qamar Ali Rizvi, vice chairman, Gurvinder Kour, vice president, Subash Chander Baru, senior vice president, Intikhab Alam, publicity secretary, besides many others.
During the meeting, the participants appealed the Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Ahmed Drabu to readdress the pay anomalies of guards, Sub-Inspectors, Inspectors, ministerial cadre employees vis-à-vis technical grades for the executive as well as cadre employees at par with other branches of Finance Department who are availing the grades as the department has fully adopted IT regime.
They said that the grades of the belt force are revised in the State Government from time to time but there is no change in the grades of executive staff of Excise and Commercial Taxes Department since three decades. They requested to grant the grades in their favour at par with Police Department and also boost the morale of the employees by granting rewards and awards in their favour as and when they perform some exemplary job.
“We are the revenue generating department and expect some in the shape of revised pay scales and uniform allowances and two and half day salary for Executive as well as Ministerial Cadre as the department is working round the clock at different posts as well as in the office, with the expectation that emoluments from Minister will be the best and exemplary step of welfare in favour of the employees.
Later, the members of the association met with the Commissioner Commercial Taxes and submitted their genuine demands regarding caderization and removal of pay anomalie of Data Entry Operators (DEOs) who are working in the same grade for the last 16 years and their promotions considering their services in the department, to depute employees for Secretarial Training as the department has not deputed any employee of this department for the course/training since 2011, necessary amendments in passing of formal order regarding creation of posts of different cadres, promotion of qualified guards/head guards as Sub-Inspectors, promotion of eligible Orderlies as Junior Assistants and convening of timely DPC of State cadre/Divisional Cadre of Ministerial/Executive Cadre employees twice in a year.
Commissioner after going through the demands issued on the spot directions to the concerned quarters for conduct of DPC.
