JAMMU, Apr 10: Civic Safai Karamchari Union (CSKU) today held a protest here in the premises of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in support of their demands.
Hundreds of Safai Karamcharis led by their president, Rinku Gill, assembled at Town Hall and raised slogans against JMC authorities. They said that Safai Karamcharis and drivers of JMC are backbone of the Corporation so far as civic conditions are concerned but authorities concerned are ignoring their burning demands.
Addressing the protesting Safai Karamcharis, Rinku Gill said that a large number of posts of Safai Karamcharis are lying vacant and the serving Safai Karamcharis are over burdened due to these vacant posts. He demanded implementation of Government Order No 219-HUD 2017 dated 26-10-2017 for recruitment of Safai Karamcharis.
He also stressed for clearing the cases of SRO 43, the file of which, he said, is lying with the administration while the employees are suffering badly. He also emphasized to regularize the services of 33 contractual drivers, who have been continuously working with the department for last more than 11 years.
Gill further stressed for enhancement of wages of skilled NGO drivers/computer operators and labour workers under the purview of Government Order No MJ/Estt/9879-87 dated 22-02-2018, holding DPC for all cadre employees and sanction of new municipal colonies for Safai Karamcharies.
He said if their genuine demands were not fulfilled they will launch an agitation in the coming days for which the administration will be responsible.
