CSIR-IIIM organizes seminar- cum-exhibition on Kisan Mela

JAMMU, Mar 5: A national seminar-cum-exhibition on Kisan Mela, Entrepreneurship programme and Flower Show was organized today by CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu in collaboration with Department of Floriculture, Jammu at its Chatha Farm, Jammu.
Director, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, Dr Ram Vishwakarma informed the audience about the aims and objectives of the seminar-cum-exhibition.
The event was inaugurated by chief guest, Vijay Kumar, CGM, NABARD, Jammu. In his address, Kumar stressed that there is a need for adopting improved varieties of cash crops in agriculture, horticulture and floriculture besides cultivating medicinal and aromatic plants to increase the yield and quality of the material.
Pran Dullu, Joint Director, Department of Floriculture, Jammu appreciated the efforts of the CSIR-IIIM, Jammu for creating awareness among farmers, providing them opportunity to interact with the scientists and progressive growers.
Detailed presentation and demonstration were held for the farmers and progressive growers in the area of cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants, intercropping of Medicinal and aromatic plants in agriculture crops, value addition of Medicinal and aromatics plants, Cultivation of high value floriculture and funding opportunities for various stake holders for cultivation of Medicinal and aromatics plants.
Presentation and demonstrations was given by Dr Phalisteen Sultan. Ashok Jonwal, Pacific Agro Nagpur, Vinod Seth, president (ICEOFF-1989), New Delhi, Rohit Seth, ex-president, Essential Oil Association of India, RL Gupta, ex-President Essential Oil Association of India, New Delhi also graced the occasion.
504 farmers across the country were present on the occasion and 83 students from various schools of the State also participated in the programme.
