Crude oil futures up on overseas cues

NEW DELHI, Apr 17:  Crude oil futures rose by 0.42 per cent to Rs 6,276 per barrel today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm trend in Asia.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in April gained Rs 26, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 6,276 per barrel, with a business turnover of 1,135 lots.
The oil for the May delivery moved up by Rs 17, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 6,262 per barrel, with a business volume of 187 lots.
Analysts said the rise in crude oil futures was largely in tandem with a firming trend in Asia on lingering concerns over the Ukraine crisis, but a bearish US stockpiles report dampened sentiment.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude oil for the May delivery advanced by 33 cents at USD 104.09 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. (PTI)
