CRPF officer injured in militant attack

SRINAGAR, Oct 7: A paramilitary officer was injured in a militant attack at Mir Bazaar area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam districts this evening.
Militants fired upon a CRPF party near Malpora in Mir Bazaar area leaving a CRPF officer injured. The officer, ASI Anwar Ali of 66 battalion of CRPF was immediately shifted to nearby hospital where from he was referred to 92-Base Hospital Srinagar for specialised treatment.
Soon after the incident, a joint team of security forces launched hunt to nab the attackers. No militant outfit so far has claimed responsibility for the attack.

In the meantime security forces today launched a cordon-and-search operation at Bellow village of Pulwama district in South Kashmir during which violent clashes erupted while a local house was damaged after catching fire.
A joint team of police, Army and CRPF laid a cordon-and-search at Bellow village following inputs about the presence of some militants. Soon after the cordon, locals took to streets and pelted stones on paramilitary forces. Police and paramilitary CRPF fired tear smoke shells to disperse them.
Meanwhile, house belonging to one Ghulam Ahmad Dar caught fire during the clashes.
SSP Pulwama Mohd Aslam Choudhary said the search operation was launched following inputs about the presence of some militants.
After hours of clashes, security forces called off the search operation as no militant was found in the area.
