Cross LoC traders’ body seeks Govt support

POONCH, Sept 12: The Cross LoC Traders Association has urged upon the Union Government and the State Administration to help them in resolving pending trade related issues with their counter parts of Pak occupied Kashmir and arrange meeting with them shortly.
Talking to media-persons here today, Pawan Anand chairman of the Association said that after NIA raids at Poonch and Chakkan-Da- Bhagh, the trade in the area has suffered set back. The traders are directionless and there is no support or proper guidance to them from the concerned authorities in the State.

He further pointed out that many traders are worried because their huge amount has been blocked on that side of the LoC. There are several trade disputes on both the sides and the same have remained unresolved since long. Authorities on both the sides have taken no pains to arrange meeting of the traders on both the sides. There is resentment among the trading community in Poonch.
Anand said if the Governments on both the sides failed to arrange meeting of the cross LoC traders, they will be compelled to hold meeting in the third country where traders could resolve their trade disputes amicably. He further urged Upon the Union Govt and State Administration to take note of the issues of traders and render helping hand. He said there was need to improve Confidence Building Measures and give momentum to the trade.
On the occasion Mohd Javed Khan was inducted as president while Imtiaz Slaria as secretary of the Association.
