Crime Branch presents challan against 6 for cheating, fraud

JAMMU, Apr 25: Crime Branch Jammu has produced challan against the Ex-Chief Manager SFC and some others for cheating and fraud.
Those against whom the challan has been produced included Subhash Chander Chopra S/o Des Raj, R/o Channi Himmat,Jammu, the then Chief Manager SFC, Jammu, Rajinder Prasad S/o Bua Ditta R/o Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, the then Manager Transport Section SFC, Jammu, Sudershan Kumar Bali S/o Late Dilbagh Raj R/o Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, the then Assistant Manager Transport Section, SFC Jammu (Now Retd.), Rajinder Kumar alias Shinda S/o Dewan Chand R/o Vikas Nagar Talab Tillo, Jammu, Tarseem Lal S/o Sain Dass R/o Aala, Tehsil Bishnah, Mool Raj Sharma S/o Krishan Chand, R/o 30/11 Nanak Nagar, Jammu, the then senior Assistant SFC Jammu, presently as Head Assistant, District office, SFC Udhampur (Now Retd.). Challan has been produced against them for preparation of fake and fictitious documents in order to facilitate sanctioning of loan to the beneficiary.
Brief facts of the case are that one Mangat Ram S/o Chajju Ram R/o Chumbian lodged a written report with Crime Branch, Jammu stating therein that he purchased a carrier bus bearing Registration No.JKQ/5349 in partnership with one Kaka Ram. Since, the business did not turn out to be profitable, as such he sold the bus to a party hailing from UP and the route permit of the said vehicle was deposited with RTO Jammu.
In the year 1991 accused Rajinder Kumar approached him alongwith one Jay Singh for the purchase of above said route permit and the deal was struck and he was made to sign various forms and documents brought to him by the above named accused. But after gap of a few years, he received a letter from J&K State Financial Corporation, whereby he was asked to pay an amount of Rs. 15,49,495/- on account of liquidation of a loan for alleged acquisition of vehicle No. JK02B/2174 registered on his name which he had never purchased or owned.
Upon this a case was registered and after collecting necessary evidence which has finally been challaned in the court of law against the accused persons.
