JAMMU, Sept 27: The relay hunger strike of All J&K Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association (CPFWA) against discrimination of the Central Government towards ex-personnel of Paramilitary forces on OROP and other issues here at Hari Singh Park entered 17th day today.
A large number of ex-servicemen of Paramilitary Forces under the leadership of association general secretary, Darshan Kumar, assembled here at Hari Singh Park and staged a protest demanding OROP and other benefits like revision of pension of pre and post 2006 retirees, widow pension, martyr status, ex-servicemen status, CSD facilities and medical facilities like ECHS, reserve quota for wards, etc.
Addressing the protesting ex-servicemen, Darshan Kumar said that Central Ministry of Home Affairs have designated IG BSF FTR Head Quarters Paloura Camp, Jammu and Additional DIG, CRPF Group Centre Bantalab as nodal officers for Jammu province as well as Jammu district, respectively but till today no nodal officer turned up to us to know our problems.
Rejecting the plea of Defence Minister that the personnel of defence forces are retired at very young age while the personnel serving in paramilitary forces retire at the age of 60 years, Kumar said that Government is dividing the soldiers of Country for their petty interests and the association will never bear this and oppose with tooth and nail this discrimination, as all paramilitary forces whether it is BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB or CISF, are also serving the Country with full dedication.
“Therefore we request the Government to stop doing discrimination among soldiers and extend the benefit of OROP to Central Paramilitary Forces also besides considering our other genuine demands”, he added.
