Court frames corruption charges against ex-Manager, Accountant

JAMMU, May 29: Additional Sessions Judge Anticorruption Jammu, Jaffer Hussain Beigh today framed corruption charges against Dhan Singh, the then Manager and Hari Singh, the then Accountant Tehsil Cooperative Marketing Society Limited, Parade for misappropriation of amount during their tenure from 1985 to 1990.
According to the Vigilance case, the accused officials during the year 1985-86 and 1986-87 hatched criminal conspiracy and in furtherance of the same dishonestly and fraudulently misappropriated an amount of Rs 8122.28 and Rs 37,242.61 kept under their control for purchase of building material.
Similarly, during the year 1987-88 they misappropriated an amount of Rs 8640.11 by making excess payment of freight charges regarding carriage of paddy. During the year 1989-90 an amount of Rs 19838.40 was misappropriated which was kept at their disposal against the slips issued to various cooperative societies for supply of material.  During the year 1988-89 an amount of Rs 21319 was misappropriated by the accused persons.
After hearing both the sides, Additional Sessions Judge Anticorruption framed charges under Section 5 (1) (c) punishable under Section 5 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 409 and 120-B RPC.
