Court denies bail to husband in dowry death case

JAMMU, Nov 10: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua MA Chowdhary has rejected bail application of Dinesh Kumar, who was allegedly involved in dowry death case.
“On perusal of the case file and without going into minute details of the proof placed on record, this court is of the opinion that there is no material on record at this stage to form an opinion that there are not reasonable grounds for believing that the accusation against the petitioner/ accused is ‘prima facie’ not proved”, Principal Sessions Judge said.
“The death of a married woman within three years of her marriage and the plea of the husband that the deceased would have at her own asked for money from her father for the construction of a tutorial sufficiently indicate that the demand of dowry was raised and that the wife had been subjected to cruelty”, the court said.
“The accusation seems to be prima facie true and the court, at this stage, has no occasion or material to take an otherwise view, Principal Sessions Judge said, adding “the petitioner/ accused has failed to make out a case for grant of bail in his favour”.
Accordingly, court rejected the bail application.
