JAMMU, Feb 16: Principal Sessions Judge Samba M L Manhas today rejected the bail applications of Mudassar Ahmed Bhat, Ishfaq Ahmed Ganai and Shahbaz Mohi-ud-Din, who were arrested with intoxicants.
After hearing Public Prosec-utor Bhupinder Singh Charak appearing for the State, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “courts cannot lose sight of the fact that the menace of the crime of smuggling of contraband drugs is on increase and the perpetrators of the crime who are destroying the society and younger generations must be dealt with iron hands”.
“The crime alleged against applicants/accused is against the society and by their criminal activities they are spoiling the young generation of the country.  Such types of offences are to be dealt with severity and with heavy hands”, the court said, adding “showing leniency in such matters would be really a case of misplaced sympathy”.
With these observations, court rejected bail application.
