Corps Commander provides assistance to J&K Yateem Trust

SRINAGAR, Oct 30: Ahead of winter months, when temperature goes below freezing point in the Valley, Army today provided bedding including mattresses, blankets and pillows to Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Trust in the apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
An Army spokesperson said Lt General Subrata Saha, Corps Commander HQ 15 Corps, as part of the initiative to beef up the winter management capability of some of the socially oriented institutions, today visited an orphanage, run by J&K Yateem Trust, near Fruit Mandi, Sopore.
Considering the request of Director of the Orphanage Centre Professor Charu and the staff, winter bedding including mattresses, blankets and pillows and a cash amount of Rs 25,000 was handed over to help the Centre gear up for the fast approaching winters, he said.
He said the event was organised by Professor Charu, the Director of the Orphanage Centre and attended by senior Army officers, civil dignitaries, children and staff of the Centre.
Lt General Saha, during interaction with the children, staff and dignitaries present during the event, assured the Director, Professor Charu of all the support from Army to the Trust.
Lt Gen Saha also spent time with the children and was enthralled by their exuberance towards education and life in general.
He commended the efforts of the Trust towards providing an excellent homely environment to the children. The civil dignitaries stated that this gesture of the Corps Commander will definitely help improve the living standards of the children during the winters and foster the brotherhood between the Army and the Awaam.
