Copper slides 0.17 pc in futures trade on low demand

NEW DELHI, Apr 9: Copper prices fell by 0.17 per cent to Rs 442.30 per kg in futures trade today amid profit-booking by participants and subdued domestic demand even as the metal strengthened overseas.
Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to a weak trend in base metals at the domestic spot markets along with profit-booking at current levels by participants but the metal’s strength overseas, capped the losses.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June fell by 75 paise, or 0.17 per cent, to Rs 442.30 per kg, in a business turnover of five lots.
The metal for delivery in the current month also shed 40 paise, or 0.09 per cent, to trade at Rs 437.85 per kg in a turnover of 395 lots.
Globally, at the London Metal Exchange, copper for delivery in three-month edged up to USD 6,786 per tonne. (PTI)
