Copper goes up in futures trade on spot demand

NEW DELHI, July 24:  Copper futures were trading 0.09 per cent higher at Rs 389.35 per kg today as speculators enlarged positions amid firming trend at the domestic spot markets.
In futures trade, copper for delivery in August was trading higher by 35 paise, or 0.09 per cent, at Rs 389.35 per kg in a business turnover of 757 lots at the Multi Commodity Exchange.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in November edged up by 30 paise, or 0.08 per cent, at Rs 395.55 per kg in three lots.
Market analysts said a better trend in base metals at the domestic spot markets on pick-up in demand from consuming industries, influenced copper futures here as speculators expanded positions. (PTI)
