Copper futures fall on low spot demand

NEW DELHI, Sept 12: Copper futures fell 0.45 per cent to Rs 437.85 per kg today as speculators trimmed positions amid weak trend at the domestic spot markets due to muted demand even as the metal strengthened overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February declined by Rs 2, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 437.85 per kg in a business turnover of 9 lots.

The metal for delivery in November fell by Rs 1.90, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 433.25 per kg in a business volume of 645 lots.

Analysts said a weak trend in copper and other industrial metals at the physical markets owing to muted demand mainly kept pressure on copper prices at futures trade here.

Globally, copper for delivery in three-month closed 0.8 per cent higher at USD 6,748 per tonne at the London Metal Exchange in yesterday’s trade. (PTI)
