Copper futures fall 0.45% on weak global cues

NEW DELHI, Oct 30:  Copper prices fell 0.45 per cent to Rs 419.70 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions amid a weak global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in November fell by Rs 1.90, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 419.70 per kg in a business turnover of 321 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in February traded lower by Rs 1.50, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 425.10 per kg in 10 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to weak global trend as the Federal Reserve’s decision to end its bond-purchase programme strengthened the dollar, reducing the appeal of commodities as an alternative investment.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months fell 0.5 per cent to USD 6,778.25 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange. (PTI)
