Copper futures decline on global cues, subdued demand

NEW DELHI, Apr 15:  Amid weak global cues and subdued domestic demand, copper prices fell 0.52 per cent to Rs 404.70 per kg in futures trade today on speculators reducing their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April eased by Rs 1.10, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 404.70 per kg in business turnover of 2,489 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in June traded lower by Rs 1.05, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 408.35 per kg in 205 lots.
Analysts attributed fall in copper futures to weak global trend and subdued demand in the domestic spot markets.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months dropped as much as 0.2 per cent to USD 6,653 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange, while in Shanghai the metal for delivery in July lost 0.2 per cent to 46,690 yuan (USD 7,502) a tonne. (PTI)
