Cop killed, two injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Sept 2: An official of J&K police was killed while two others were injured today in separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a Head Constable of J&K police (presently posted with Flying Squad of police station Gharota) namely Raj Verma (Belt No 1436/J), son of late major Ram, resident of village Chak Malal, Khour (Akhnoor), sustained serious injuries when a bike bearing registration number JK02BF-9461 on which he was travelling, got slipped at Chak Morh, Jourian.
He said the seriously injured police official was immediately rushed to Primary Health Centre Jourian, where doctors declared him as brought dead. His body was shifted to Sub-District Hospital, Akhnoor, where after conducting postmortem, it was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites.
In another incident, a Senior Grade constable of IRP 14th Battalion, who was presently posted at police canteen, Gandhi Nagar, got head injuries when a scooty on which he was going on, was hit by an unknown vehicle. The injured cop namely Vijay Kumar was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment.
A man identified as Sukhdev (55) son of Bacchu Lal, resident of Bhagwati Nagar, was injured when a scooty on which he was travelling, was hit by a speeding truck at Bhagwati Nagar. He was also shifted to GMCH for treatment.
