Cop among 2 arrested with 800 grams of charas

KATHUA, Mar 5: Police achieved a success in unearthing a nexus of drug peddlers operating in Kathua and arrested a cop with 800 grams of Charas who was smuggling the contraband from Bani to Kathua.
In continuation to drive launched by the District Police Kathua to nab the drug peddlers indulging in smuggling of contraband, a police party of Police Station Kathua headed by SHO, PS Kathua Sarbajit Singh under the supervision of Shamsher Singh, DySP Hqrs. Kathua and overall supervision of Pawan Parihar, SSP Kathua on a specific information laid down a naka at W. No. 14 near Shakti Model School Kathua and nabbed two drug peddlers carrying contraband material. After the physical verification police seized a small quantity of charas. But after the interrogation of arrested smuggler Mohd. Shafi S/O Gh. Rasool Caste Gujjar R/O Khokhyal who is posted as Instructor at Police Training School Kathua , police succeed in recovery of large quantity of Charas from a hideout at his residence.
Police seized 800 grams from their possession. The other person arrested was identified as Tridu Ram S/O Gian Chand R/o W. No. 14 Kathua . They were arrested when they were travelling on a motorcycle bearing registration No. PB58F-5044 with consignment of charas.
The Superintendent of police Kathua Pawan Parihar said that a case FIR No. 64/2017 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered against both the smugglers in this regard at Police Station Kathua and investigation has been started to nab the other drug peddlers associated in smuggling.
He said the Police Instructor has been placed under suspension and further report sent to higher authority for course of action.
